BHANGRA Workout/HIP HOP
A new musical trend hits Europe and brings along an innovative pop-dance culture. BHANGRA DANCE is a mix of romantic Indian music and the vibrant grooves of Hip-Hop and Black Music. BHANGRA has its origins in the folk dances of the North Indian region Punjab. Its characteristics are dynamic beats mixed with typical Indian sounds. The first to introduce this particular style to Europe was MC Punjabi with his success song in typical BHANGRA style. For dancers this new dance style offers a mix of folkdance, Hip Hop, aerobic focusing on shoulder and leg-training. As sports-training BHANGRA is a very effective fat-burner workout, a good cardio-training and it improves coordination since both shoulders and legs are in motion at the same time. The instructor of this new dancestyle is Tatjana Wegner, a professional dancer and the inventor of BollyDance.
BOLLY HIP
is the current trend of Tatjana Wegner. The vibrant and dynamic workout is based on HIP-movements and BOLLYwood Dance.
Its emphasis is on working with the "hip"- those who know the swinging hips of graceful Bollwood dancers know how many ways to move the hips in fact exist. The movements and positions have their own names and origins, such as "Hips Rajastani", "Tumka" or "The 8". The uniquely erotic moves from BollyDance and the typical Indian hand gestures (mudras) are combined with modern Hip Hop steps- the perfect combination of Indian and Western dance styles. The music for this workout is a rhythmic CrossOver of Bollywood, Bhangra, Oriental, with various drums in the foreground.
